Chery Klingsmith

Ministry Focus

Chery Klingsmith served in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain with Mission to the World from 2008 to 2019 as a member of two church-planting teams. Her ministry included serving in various leadership roles in the church, and discipling non-believers and believers. Her passion for missionary care was born from personal experience when she received care and encouragement that enabled her to persevere and thrive in a challenging ministry context. While in Spain, Chery served colleagues across Europe as a Missionary Care Friend, and also as a women’s ministry leader tasked with developing a new ministry to encourage women in the region. Seeing first hand how excellent care equips missionaries to thrive fueled her desire to pursue an MDiv in Missionary Care and Counseling. Chery is dedicating the remaining years of her missionary career to caring for and encouraging missionaries. She is thrilled to join Missions Door’s new Missionary Care Team.

Faith Story

Chery came to faith in Christ in 1985 during her last year of college. God used a Christian co-worker to help her discover what it means to believe in Jesus, to love and follow him, and to love and serve others. God drew her to himself, gave her eyes to see who Jesus is and gave her the desire to love and follow Him. Chery sensed an immediate call to missionary service and is thankful God knew she would need to grow spiritually and be equipped before she was ready to enter a very challenging spiritual environment. She waited nearly 20 years to serve overseas, and clearly sees God’s wisdom in the timing of her years in Spain.
