A few years ago, Pastor Roy Alva discovered that many communities by the Amazon River didn’t have secondary schools. When children finished elementary school, they couldn’t continue their education.
Pastor Alva had a vision to start “In the House of My Father” Boarding House for children living in Nuevo Miraflores at the Hitaya River. He has built houses where these children can be cared for by house parents like Geovanni & Nancy Carrillo … Children like Stalin.
Stalin is 12 years old and has six brothers and sisters. His father was killed when a tree crushed him while he was cutting wood. Orphaned and looking for a home, Stalin found the Boarding House and now lives there with seven other children.
Before the Boarding House, Stalin was unable to study because of lack of resources. He felt hopeless. Now he is finishing the fifth grade and is excited to continue with his secondary education.
In Lima’s community of Ventanilla, Callao
Missions Door Missionary Pastor William Evaristo is connecting people with the opportunity of hope in the midst of chaos and despair. In August 2012 he started a new church where over 20 families now worship God.
Their community is a very poor area consisting of squatters. The people have no running water, and the homes are often made of cardboard and rubble.
But Pastor Evaristo and these families continue to work and serve in that community today. These families are changing many lives with the Gospel and help in their communities through service projects.
