Mexico Ministry Fund
Printable Ministry Summary (PDF)
Mexico is the third largest country in the Americas by population, with close to 110 million people. It is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world.
The people of Mexico are ethnically diverse and increasingly urban, with close to 75% living in cities. Mexico City is home to almost 24 million people, making it the second largest city in the world.
A very religious country, 76% of the population is officially Roman Catholic, with only 7% identifying themselves as Protestant. The balance of the population includes other world religions, non-religious or unspecified.
Missions Door started ministry in Mexico in 1951. Currently we have missionaries in Sonora, Guanajuato, Jalisco and Mexico City. Our missionaries are involved in church planting, leadership development, university ministry and children’s ministries.
Funds contributed to the Mexico Ministry Fund are used for pastoral subsidies for churches that are not able to support their national pastors. Funding also provides literature and Bibles to train new believers, equipment and musical instruments to help new churches communicate the gospel in relevant ways, and transportation assistance for national leader training.
Joaquin Vargas, who serves as the Director of Latino and Caribbean Ministries, oversees and coordinates the distribution of this fund.
