Tarak and Eileen Khan
FIELD
Tarak Khan is an educator, administrator and counselor. During the past 25 years he has focused on drug-dependent, gang-affiliated, underprivileged, delinquent young men who were wards of the court. In 1997 he founded a non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation home for boys between the ages of 9 and 18, where he was the Executive Director and Program Administrator. He also taught as an adjunct faculty member for 16 years at Bethany College in Santa Cruz, California.
Tarak and Eileen were appointed in October, 2008 to serve in the Grand Bahamas with Missions Door missionaries Raoul and Karen Armbrister. Tarak’s goal is to educate and help people overcome addictions, as well as build an improved family dynamic. His heartfelt desire is to exalt and uplift other believers.
FAITH
Tarak was raised in a Christian home in India and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 22. After graduating from Calcutta University, he spent two years evangelizing with Operation Mobilization in India and Nepal. His passion ever since has been to minister to people. He came to the U.S. almost 30 years ago to attend Bible college, as he felt the call to ministry. Tarak and Eileen have been involved in missions all of their Christian lives. He presently serves on the missions board at his church.
Eileen was raised in a Christian home. From a very early age she was actively involved in church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school classes for many years. She rededicated her life to Christ in 1976.
Last year, after taking part in a short-term mission trip to the Grand Bahamas, Tarak and Eileen came back changed. Restless and with a burning desire to be helping families overcome addiction, they began praying and seeking God’s direction for their lives. Taking a step of faith, they closed the boys’ home and waited expectantly to see what door God would open for the next phase of their lives.
FAMILY
Tarak and Eileen were married in 1975. They have one son, Aaron, who is married to Lara, and they have been blessed with a granddaughter named Ella Rayne. Aaron and his family live in Rocklin, California.
Eileen served in many capacities at Bethany College over her 25 years there. She was the assistant to the president and was also instrumental in the inception of the external degree program, a distance-learning program for working adults which she directed for many years. She served on many committees, but the one she enjoyed most was the missions committee of the college. Eileen was also co-founder and bookkeeper for the rehabilitation home for boys.
